THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, COLORADO
PROBLEMS
Before 2017, City had never undertaken an environmental footprint report (energy, carbon, water and waste for the larger community and city operations).
City had not monitored its performance since.
City had no idea on how to map and implement robust reductions in natural resource, net-zero energy and carbon impact.
SOLUTIONS
In 2017, we outlined three initiatives to drive energy use down (see chart
for details).
Emplace solar array on new civic center
Replace older vehicles in city fleet with new, low-/no-energy models
Encourage community participation in utility efficiency and rebate programs
In 2023, we provided guidance and context for all financial incentives
to address the built environment – two-thirds of City’s greenhouse gas
emissions.
Mapped path forward to statewide compliance with net-zero goals
